Alcohol and Emotions

Basically, alcohol often tends to intensify your emotions. If you are depressed, tired, or angry, and drink to calm yourself down or put yourself in a better mood, you will achieve a temporary improvement, followed by stronger negative emotions, than what you experienced in the first place.

What is more, it is common to experience symptoms of anxiety or depression, the day after you have been drinking.

If you experience these symptoms, it’s important to drink less. Furthermore, stimulants, such as large doses of coffee, can cause anxiety and depression. The same applies to other drugs.
